Sudipta Basu is a civil engineer with over 45 years of experience, expertise across water, wastewater with a strong focus on asset management and infrastructure rehabilitation. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (1st Honours) from Jadavpur University, India, and two master’s degrees in engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and the University of New South Wales, Australia. Sudipta is a Fellow and Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia and has held important roles in professional bodies such as the Australian Society for Trenchless Technology (ASTT), Engineers Australia and Standards Australia. His career includes 26 years at Sydney Water Corporation, where he provided technical lead in major sewer rehabilitation programs with annual budgets up to $100 million. His work involved condition assessment, engineering design, product evaluation, and project management of critical wastewater infrastructure. As a freelance consultant since 2017, Sudipta has contributed to diverse pipeline rehabilitation projects in Australasia, heritage infrastructure appraisal, technical evaluations of liner technologies and standardization of practice. Sudipta’s international experience spans Australia, India, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bhutan, and Thailand, and he is recognized for his technical leadership, strategic asset management, and collaborative project delivery.
