Selwyn Water backs International No-Dig Auckland as Industry Partner

As New Zealand’s water sector works through one of its biggest shake-ups in decades, Selwyn Water has stepped forward, joining International No-Dig Auckland as an Industry Partner and bringing a real-world perspective to the conversation.

The partnership lands at a moment of significant change across New Zealand’s Three Waters landscape. With reforms and restructuring shaping how water services are delivered and managed, the sector is navigating one of its most important periods in recent history.

For Selwyn Water, International No-Dig Auckland offers a platform to step into that conversation, share on-the-ground insights and connect directly with the people driving change and providing services.

“As a newly established water services organisation, this is a critical time for Selwyn Water to connect with industry, understand emerging technologies, and build capability early,” Selwyn Water Chief Executive Alex Cabrera said.

“Being involved in events like International No Dig Auckland helps ensure we’re making informed choices from the outset as we plan and invest in long term water infrastructure.”

International No-Dig Auckland will bring together utilities, contractors, asset owners, engineers, councils and technology providers from across New Zealand and beyond. The focus will be on what is currently working in the industry, what is shifting and what needs to happen next.

Selwyn Water’s involvement reflects a broader push from utilities to stay close to innovation while maintaining strong ties with industry peers.

“Trenchless technology will play an increasingly important role in the future of water infrastructure in New Zealand,” Cabrera said.

“It allows us to renew and upgrade essential assets with less disruption to communities, lower environmental impact, and improved cost efficiency, all of which are critical as networks age and urban areas continue to grow.”

Prime Creative Media Head of Marketing – Events Molly Hancock said the event comes at a perfect time for the trenchless and utility sectors.

“Right now, the water sector in New Zealand is evolving quickly,” Hancock said.

“There are big questions being asked about delivery models, investment and long-term planning. Having Selwyn Water involved means those conversations are grounded in real experience as its living these changes every day.”

International No-Dig Auckland will provide a space to unpack the implications of reform, explore trenchless solutions and strengthen relationships across the sector. With infrastructure demands rising and scrutiny increasing, the need for open dialogue has never been sharper.

“Events like this give the industry a chance to come together and align, creating space for clear, practical conversations that move the sector forward,” Hancock says.

International No-Dig Auckland is expected to attract a strong cross-section of the underground infrastructure community.
